Low carb, high fat (LCHF) diets, or very low carb, high fat (VLCD) diets are often referred to as a ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diet has been used for a long time to treat and reverse many diseases — for example, it has been very effective in treatment of epilepsy since the 1920s. But emerging research is showing that ketones can in fact do much more in the body, including significant benefits for Alzheimer’s and type 1 and 2 diabetes, cancer treatment and prevention, increased cognitive performance, more effective weight loss, improved athletic performance, and much more.
So should we all be following a ketogenic diet? Absolutely NOT! Some people have certain conditions or different gene types that will not allow them reaching a safe state of nutritional ketosis. Although most certainly everyone can see considerable benefits from eating whole foods and removing processed sugar from their diet.
But for a successful and safe ketogenic diet, you need someone to guide you and teach you about the possible difficulties, and what down-sides you might encounter. A ketogenic diet is a very effective tool for preventing, treating and healing many diseases, however it can also be a long-term lifestyle for maximizing your health. That’s why we call it Ketogenic Diet Lifestyle Coaching.

All disease has one cause
The body doesn’t differentiate. As far as your body is concerned, all disease has one root and one cause.
Ketone bodies are produced by 3 chemicals — acetoacetate, beta-hydroxybutyrate, and acetone — when fatty acids are broken down in excess. The ketone bodies are a source of fuel for your brain, heart, and muscles, and as fuel they are transported across the inner mitochondrial membrane as well as across the blood brand barriers and cell membranes.
The ketogenic diet mimics the metabolism of fasting, while ketone bodies prevent muscle loss too. Some of the benefits of the Ketogenic diet include
- Decreased inflammation
- Healthy brain support / increased cognitive performance
- Increased energy
- Improved mood and preventing mood-swings
- Supporting weight loss by improving appetite control
- Improving performance, endurance and strength
- Increased longevity
- Supporting gut health
- Improved diabetes (type 1 and type 2)
- Preventing cancer, or supporting cancer treatment
- Promoting increasing lean muscle mass
- Helping to reduce visceral fat and decrease the risk of metabolic syndrome
- Benefits for aging, PCOS, Alzheimers, rheumatoid arthritis, the epigenetic effects on the gene expression, and much more.
With intermittent fasting, prolonged fasting, and a well formulated ketogenic diet, it is crucial to give your body the correct macronutrient sources and types, and the timing is critical too. It all depends on your body’s needs and what you want to achieve.
An effective ketogenic diet
To get the best results from a ketogenic diet, and for it to be effective, sustainable, and healthy, it is essential that the diet plan is personalized and designed to exactly fit YOU. A generic ketogenic diet that works for someone else will probably not work for you!
During this program you will learn the science behind the ketogenic diet — what are ketone bodies, how can you convert your body to start burning fat as a fuel, and how can you make the ketogenic a part of your daily lifestyle. We’ll cover a lot of details during the process, so you will understand exactly what you are doing. And with the necessary mental support, your transition should be easy and successful.
You will also learn how to make delicious keto-friendly meals (including recipes and meal plans), and what supplementation is beneficial. If you're using any medication then we’ll look at what you need to do. And if you’re an athlete then you’ll learn how to combine a ketogenic diet with high intensity performance, endurance, and strength.
